Monica & Joel – Oregon Golf Club {Portland Wedding Photographer}

Monica and Joel’s wedding date was a moving target for a little bit.  Joel’s deployment date was changed a few months before the wedding leaving them scrambling to change all their reservations, only to have it changed again shortly after, allowing them to move it back to the original date!  Only four days after the wedding, Joel had to be deployed.  I am SO thankful for his service to our country!  Thank you Joel!!  And thank you Monica for your sacrifice and support of your new husband.  I pray for his safe and quick return to you!

Some couples are natural photo takers.  These two definitely fall in that category!  Being madly in love, good lookin’, and ballroom dancers, they made my job easy!  It was so fun to be able to photograph their love for each other and all their friends and family who came to celebrate with them.  There were also some great vendors that helped to put on their wedding:

Venue – Oregon Golf Club
Wedding Planner - Pearl and Roses Wedding Planning
Officiant - A Beautiful Ceremony
Stationary – Crave Design
Musicians – Duo Con Brio
Chairs/Tables – Barclay Event Rentals

And don’t miss the special appearance from The Oregon Duck, Puddles!

Here’s the highlights from their wedding:

Sara & Ryan – West End Theater {Portland Wedding Photographer}

Star Wars.  Dr Who. Lord of the Rings.  When Harry Met Sally.  These are some of the movies/shows quoted in the awesome wedding of Ryan and Sara.  The quotes were mixed into the ceremony and made for some great laughs between the tears as they exchanged vows surrounded by friends and family.  The reception was one of the most well decorated ones I’ve seen.  Every single center piece was different, and so well thought out.

The wedding and reception were at the West End Theater, a really great venue with ballrooms for both the ceremony and reception.  After the ‘first look’ we ventured out into the streets of Portland, ending up at Case Study Coffee, a special place for these two!  Case Study actually provided a coffee bar at the reception!  I’ll let the photos do the talking!

Cathi Smith - What amazing pictures! Beautiful job. Special family to me and I now live 2000 miles away; so wonderful to see life through your photography.

Josepha’s Senior Photos – {Newberg Senior Photographer}

One of the first things that I do when figuring out details for a photo session is to talk about what location to shoot at.  There are tons of options ranging from downtown Portland, to the farms, or the beach!  I love shooting at all the different places, but I get really excited when someone chooses a location that really fits my style.  Champoeg State Park is one of those locations.  I love the barn, big wide open fields, oak groves, cool paths.  Not only is it an incredible place for photos, it’s also a really fun place to go for an afternoon of fun.  I like heading there for a bike ride with my family.  Definitely hoping to do more of that this summer!

Josepha chose Champoeg for her senior photos.  She really rocked her session!  I’ll let the photos speak for themselves!

Walt Disney Company – D23 Maleficent Premiere Event – {Portland Corporate Event Photography}

I had such a fun opportunity recently to photograph a Disney D23 (Disney Fan Club) event in Portland.  This was a special early preview of the movie coming out soon called Maleficent.  I got to see a preview of this movie and I have to say, it’s going to be a good one!

Maleficent is the character in the classic Disney film, Sleeping Beauty, who curses the princes Aurora to “prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die” before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday.  This movie tells the story of Maleficent.  It’s dark, suspenseful, and the cinematography looks awesome!  Here’s some photos from the Portland event, which was held at the Keller Auditorium.

Upon entering, all the D23 fan club members received mickey ears / maleficent horns.

These are actual costumes that were worn by Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning in the movie.

The key speaker was Don Hahn, who was the executive producer for Maleficent.  He also was a producer on classics like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.  I think everyone managed to get an autograph.  He’s a down to earth guy with quite a sense of humor!  Pretty cool to meet an Oscar nominated producer!

Here are more props from the movie, including the spinning needle that princess aurora pricks her finger on.

Such amazing details in these costumes!

You can see Disney’s blog post about the event here.

Cannon Beach Senior Photos – {Oregon Beach Senior Photographer}

One of my favorite sessions this last year (can I say that about every session?!?!) was a senior portrait session at Cannon Beach.  This beautiful young lady has traveled to Cannon Beach from central Washington every single summer for most of her life.  So what better place for a senior session that at the Oregon Coast!  Our day was threatened with big rain clouds that broke up just as we got started and we were blessed with an amazing evening with incredible light!  Then as the evening was ending, I suggested we go out in the COLD water and she was more than willing!  I think the results were worth the frozen, numb feet and legs.  :)
